I am 5 months post-op as of January. From the start I knew Dr. Champaneria would be the perfect fit for my top surgery. I researched so many surgeons and everytime I looked through his practices and results he became the easy choice. Especially once I changed insurances and he was in-network. Leading up to my surgery Dr. Champaneria and his team were always compassionate and thorough when explaining the process. It was always fast and simple to clear up any questions through the Scripps portal. I still had a few more check-ups after surgery, and when in the exam room we were all so impressed with my healing. I have had an incredible and memorable experience here and I highly recommend Dr. Champaneria and his team. I remember the first time I came for my top surgery consultation. As a trans man, finding the right fit for such a life changing experience was vital to achieving success with my goals for my transition. After I watched Dr. Champaneria’s videos and explored his website, I had a feeling that this was the perfect match. At the time I was living in Phoenix, AZ so I traveled to San Diego for all of this and came each time for my consultation, my pre op appointment, and then finally for my top surgery, October 28, 2021. One of the best days of my life and with results that exceeded my expectations in every way! Dr. Champaneria was extremely welcoming, caring, knowledgeable, considerate, sincere, genuine, the list goes on and on. He took his time with me and I never felt rushed. He answered all my questions and appropriately addressed and eased my concerns. He explained the entire process thoroughly and made sure I fully understood each step. I always felt safe with Dr. Champaneria and I knew I was in good hands. He’s one of the most incredible human beings I’ve met and his patient care and surgical skills are the best of the best. Dr. Champaneria is a great surgeon. The aesthetics are exactly what I hoped for, and the healing has been smooth. Personally speaking, he’s very conscientious (he encouraged me to consult with other surgeons before deciding on one), a clear communicator, and appears to have a real passion for his work that is rooted in an understanding of and empathy for his patients’ needs. I had top surgery with Dr. Champaneria on 4/21/2022 (double incision with nipple grafts) and I am thrilled with my results. The whole experience with Dr. Champaneria and his team has been everything I could want. Everyone at his clinic is considerate, professional, and friendly. I had a great hospital experience, although of course I don’t remember most of it - but I was well taken care of, felt reassured that I was in the hands of competent professionals, and everything they did was explained to me fully. I was even encouraged to take my phone with me into the OR, which was weirdly calming, even though I was out pretty quick once I got there. It hasn’t yet been a full month since the procedure but I am very happy with how my chest is healing! The recovery has been pretty smooth sailing, as far as these things go - I’ve never had surgery before, or even any broken bones, so this may be the most intense recovery experience I’ve ever had, but from everything I have read and heard from others who have had the same procedure, I am doing really well and have been very fortunate with my healing process! I cannot adequately express how grateful I am to Dr. Champaneria and his team for my new chest, it is truly life-changing. Particular shout out to Cynthia, who took care of much of my aftercare guidance and answered all my questions at my pre-op. She is super helpful and kind! More

Absolutely amazing surgeon. Did my top surgery and did a fantastic job. Five weeks out and I feel and look great. He worked with my body and my needs and made sure I was always heard and ensured I had all the information I needed for pre-op prep and post-op recovery. Made sure my gp was in the loop for everything, too. I'm really happy with the results and would recommend him for anyone getting a mastectomy/top surgery. More
